It is often said that including multiple keywords in an article can help rank for various terms. However, it is not always clear which keywords should be grouped together and which should not. If you have been searching for an answer, this guide is for you.
Here, I will demonstrate how to use Larseo for keyword clustering.

There are numerous free and paid keyword research tools available to assist in collecting keywords. I typically utilize Larseo's Keyword Finder to acquire long-tail keywords from Google Autocomplete.
If you possess a list of keywords from other tools, you can simply import them into a Larseo Keyword Report.
In your Keyword Report, please select all the keywords you would like to cluster. Then, from the Other Actions dropdown, select the option to Cluster Keywords. Larseo offers two clustering methods: SERP Clustering and Semantic Clustering.
Larseo will cluster your keywords by analyzing the Search Engine Results Page (SERP). If two keywords share more than four pages in search engine results (similar results on SERP), they will be grouped together.
This approach has the advantage of leveraging Google as a partner to detect users’ search intent. If Google returns many similar pages for two keywords, it is likely that they share the same search intent.
The only disadvantage of this method is that it is time-consuming when dealing with a large list of keywords, as SERP analysis is a laborious task.
Pro Tips:
You can adjust the Similar Results on SERP threshold based on your niche, ranging from 3 to 7 (with 4 as the default). The higher the threshold, the greater the similarity of the keywords in a given cluster.
If you have a list of keywords that share the same pattern like "best bowling balls for *", SERPs clustering is the best choice for you.
Larseo employs Natural Language Processing (NLP) models to semantically group keywords, a process that is much faster than SERP clustering, as it does not require Google crawling.
The primary advantage of this approach is its speed; it allows for the clustering of up to 50,000 keywords in mere seconds, particularly useful for large keyword lists that span a wide range of topics.
Semantic Clustering settings:
Model: When selecting keywords, you can choose between the English Model and the International Model, depending on the language used.
Cluster size: It is assumed that the default cluster size is 3, meaning that each cluster must contain a minimum of 3 similar keywords.
Threshold: Increasing the threshold value will result in a greater similarity between keywords within a cluster, but it will also reduce the number of clusters. The threshold value should range from 10-100.
Once the keyword clustering process is complete, you will be presented with a list of clusters. Each cluster contains a parent keyword with the highest search volume and several related keywords that support the parent keyword.
In theory, each cluster corresponds to a single article to be written for your website.
Note: Not 100% of keywords can be clustered, the Non-Clustered Keywords section contains keywords that don’t belong to any clusters.
Beginning in November 2022, Larseo will utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assess the intent of a cluster. This capability will enable you to create more effective content that can address your customers' intent.
Additionally, you can gain a better understanding of your clusters to more easily consolidate clusters or eliminate any overlapping clusters. It is applicable to both SERP and Semantic Clustering.
You can re-visit the clusters list page by clicking the Clusters tab from your Keyword Report.
You can watch the below video to understand the differences between them.
SERP Clustering with Ranking is a feature that gives you the ability to check the ranking of your website when running SERP clustering. By identifying clusters with low or no ranking, you can easily pinpoint content gaps quickly.
To get started, please enter your website domain in the text input.
Once SERP clustering is complete, Larseo will provide information on the number of keywords your website is ranking for and the average positions. This will enable you to assess the overall performance of your website for the whole keyword cluster.
